Mental Depression is killing us day by day even before the real black moment arrives.  Depression can take you to what extent that can’t be imagined but we know how depression and anxiety feel like.

I had also suffered from this when depression and I became friends even I had to take anti-depressant pills. I know how horrible the days are when depression hits hard, signs of depression include mood swings, feeling of loneliness, drawn in sadness, and whatnot.

But hey I have overcome this thing and I am leading a happy life.  And here I am to help you overcome depression too.

Here I am sharing what I did & some tips shared by a professional coach and Dr. to overcome depression.

After the death of Sushant Singh Rajput (though a mystery), the word depression can be heard everywhere. Keep reading to know how to come out of depression.

First, tell me one thing, you read the title and came here that means you are depressed and want a solution right? So see you don’t want this, then why you are giving that shit the right to stay with you! Time to get rid of depression from your beautiful life which made it miserable.

Here we go,

 

1.               Change your mentality towards yourself:

 

Hey, you are an awesome person! Yes, you are. Tell this to yourself. Shout out this.

Often people in depression have very down and negative thoughts towards themselves like “I am good for nothing”, “I am stupid”, “I hate myself”, “I am curse for others”,  No one loves me”.

But trust me THESE ARE WRONG. You are as good as any normal person, you are unique you are the child of almighty, you don’t have the right to hate yourself.

Discover yourself! Discover your surroundings. It is so much you are missing when you refuse to look. Don’t give yourself a ‘comfortable discomfort’

You should not bother other's mentality towards you. You are the best. Be positive. You must if you want to cure depression.

Learn from your failure, rectify your mistakes and stand up again. If one door gets closed then many other doors get open.

 

2.               Share your problems with your best friend

If you are going through any problem then try to share this with the person whom you can trust. The best friend is he who understands you & supports you in your ups and downs. Today is friendship day, let's strengthen the friendship with happiness & break the toxic friendship with depression.

Don’t restrict yourself go and talk to the person. Don’t say “nothing” when that person asks you to share. You don’t know maybe the person can give you a solution or at least you may get support who will help you to deal with your situation & help to treat the depression.

Choose your friends wisely. I have seen many selfish friends and also came across some really good friends. My friends helped me with many of my problems.

Be a supportive friend for others too in this selfish world be a trustworthy person and help your friends to deal with their problems.

 

3.                           Be social

Keeping yourself stuck inside the four walls is the worst thing you do for yourself and the best help for depression to remain with you.

Go out be social, go for a hangout with your friends. Hey No, you can’t say no, I don’t have the mood. This way you are rather worsening the situation. Go for small vacations.

Don’t just drive-in social media, Studies show that limiting social media to approximately 30 minutes a day decreases depression.

To deal with depression you have to go against your will your mind. Go out, if you want to recover from depression.

Go for a dance class or visit your favorite tourist spot or just visit any silent the natural environment, have fun with friends, participate actively in family occasions.

The more you socialize the more you feel good and come out of depression.

 

4. Do some good work

Find any good work to be involved in, which can give you some satisfaction like volunteering for the cause which matters to you as I work for woman empowerment and street children.

Doing something good for someone makes you feel powerful, confident, and proud & happy. Services don’t have to be big to count

Try this, this way you will be helping both others and yourself too.

 

5. Find out the good quality in yourself & greet yourself (self-love):

Self-love is not being selfish. If you can’t love yourself then how can you love someone else?

Can you tell me any good quality of yourself? Write in the comment section if you can. Hey, come on try it. Don’t be shy! I bet you have lots of qualities.

Learn to say good words about yourself. Do it right now in front of a mirror, with a smile on your face say hey you amazing person, you are outstanding.

Stop the “Things I hate about myself” to “Things I am worthy of respect & love”.

Complement yourself. Some people feel depressed for their looks like the skin color of women in India. Dear girls, Dark skin tone even own Miss Universe and Miss World pageants and you think you are ugly rather say I am as beautiful as Miss World.

Ask your close friends to write a list of good qualities they find in you and trust me you will be amazed, glad, and too happy to see those. You will feel proud and confident. They don’t ask for bad qualities, you know those more huh.

Keep those list with you and read out loudly whenever you feel down and greet your those friends and me later J

                                                                   

6.Breathing exercise

Deep breathing exercise is very good for your mental and physical wellbeing. It can decrease your stress, relaxing the mind.

While there is an uncountable number of benefits of this some of these are, when you deep breathe, the body releases endorphins which are a natural painkiller. Increases blood flow & detoxify the body.

 

7.Physical Exercise

Physical exercise is most beneficial for your body and mind.

Try to do exercise every day for at least half an hour. It triggers the production of hormones that improve your mood.

Increases oxygen intake in the brain and body, making you more energetic and fresh.           

 

8. Be Happy with what you have:


We have the bad habit of comparing our failure with someone else’s success or your weakness with some one’s strength, and as a result, we feel depressed and down. 

This is unacceptable, So STOP COMPARING.

                                                            

9. Don’t listen to sad songs/watch a sad movie when you are sad

 Depressed persons are pro in listening to sad songs. Our mind wants to listen to sad songs when we feel sad, isn’t it!

When we face any problem in family or school or from friends which makes us feel bad then much of the time we listen to sad songs and some people used to put sad videos on their social media handles!

Because our the mind wants to relate to our situation. Don’t let it do that, it will drain you to more sadness. Think have you ever felt good after listening to sad songs when you were sad?

Rather try to hear mood-lifting songs, it will be tough for you! What? You don’t believe me! Okay just try to hear happy and mood-lifting songs the next time you are sad!

You will be going against the will of your mind so it will not be easy but remember my words that

“The feelings might be strong but not stronger then you, your problems might be big but not bigger than you, you CAN OVERCOME this” trust me!

 

10.Yoga for depression

Yoga is a very a good way to deal with your mental and physical issues.

Suryanamaskar- Surya namaskar includes some steps in it which are treated as one of the best yoga that includes all the parts of the body. Creates starch on your body

Try to do it in the morning and evening. It hemoglobin increase, removes stress from the body. Good for many other problems.

Shavasana – if you can’t do anything then do Sabashana, it is not just sleeping but feeling your every part consciously while lying on the floor or bed.

Bhramari pranayama- It is a type of pranayama. Vibrate from the vocal cord and not through the nose

Nari shodhana pranayama – provides oxygen to the body

 Do the yoga in front of a yoga instructor.

 

11.         Memories good moments:

Whenever I feel bad I remember good moments and a smile comes to my face.

Remember a a good moment like the moment when you made someone smile or the best compliment you got for your work or the happy moment you spent with your loved one may be your family or your friend.

The moment you feel yourself sliding back to an awful memory that takes you down, take a deep breath & remember that best happiest moment. Counter the gloom with an immediate dose of positivity!”

 


12.           Meditation at a natural environment

                                                                                                  

All of us know that meditation has a very good impact on our body & mind. Try to sit in padmasana or normal asana keeping your body posture erect and concentrate.

You can just concentrate on your breathing too.

Try to find a natural environment, open-air,  away from the noise & only whispering of birds. This will be best for doing meditation. If you can’t find such an environment then just play a piece of meditation music from YouTube. You will find some natural environment music, play that, and do the meditation.

 

13.         Proper diet

Having a a good diet is the most important. Which is full of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.

Vitamins like Vit. D is important for the brain, heart, and bone health. People who are depressed are more likely to have low levels of this vitamin. Exposure to the sun will give you this vitamin.

B-12 and B-6 are vital to brain health. A decrease in the level of vitamin B can increase your risk of developing depression.

Omega-3 fatty acids - These essential fats are important to neurological development and brain health. Adding some fish in your diet will give you this fat. It can reduce depression symptoms.

 

 

14.         Get a hobby

Try to involve in a hobby, you like the most and enjoy it. It will make you feel happy and a break from other things and workload. Come on you deserve a break.

You can do gardening if you like to plant or take dance as an example, it is the best exercise too for your full body releases endorphin happiness and relaxing hormone, 

I dance every day and trust me it feels so good. I am a trained dancer but you don’t need to be a trained one just start a song you like the most and just move your body the way you like and enjoy it.

You can pick any hobby you like. Just find out.

 

15.         For friends and family

If you find your friend in depression doesn’t make fun of him, the problem he is facing may be a silly thing for you but an important thing for him so try to understand the problem with your friend.

If you lough or underestimate their issue then they will feel more depressed and will not share with you anymore.

If you want to help your friend then listen to him just be a good listener. And motivate them to tell them they can deal with the problem.

Sometimes we just need someone to listen to us, the same applies to family. Understand your child give him some of your time. They need you.

 

16.         Proper sleep

When you are depressed your sleep cycle gets disturbed, some people face insomnia and some even sleep for 11/12 hours or more a day.

Both are not good for you. Sleep for 7 to 8 hours a day. 8 hours of deep sound sleep is best for your body to work properly.

Early to bed and early to rise is still important. 

17.                Avoid alcohol and drugs

Drinking and misuse of drugs is high no-nos to overcome depression. It will just you’re your body. Stay away from these. These can worsen your symptoms of depression.

 

18.        Some more ways 

·        Positive thought

·        Take part of social events like sports etc.

·        Nonviolence

·         Don’t steal thoughts or things.

·        Read good books, positive books like Bhagwat Geeta.
